The Government has unveiled details of a £132m programme which will be used to develop community hospitals across England.
Announcing the funding for the scheme, health minister Ben Bradshaw said the projects will “change the face of the local NHS” in their respective areas.
In a written statement to MPs in the House of Commons, Mr Bradshaw said: “The total value of these schemes is equivalent to £132m, of which £95m will be funded from the community hospitals and service programme.”
Mr Bradshaw revealed that the following projects will benefit from the increased funds:
:: £3m will go towards the development of a new town centre primary care facility in Hartlepool.
:: £3.7m will be spent on refurbishing St Charles Hospital in North Kensington, London.
:: £5m has been allocated for a new health park at Keynsham, near Bristol.
:: £6.4m will go towards a new health and social care campus at Dursley, Gloucestershire.
:: £7m will be allocated towards a joint health and community campus development for Selby.
:: £13.2m will be spent developing two community hospitals at Moreton and Bourton in the North Cotswolds.
:: £17.1m will be used to develop a community hospital on the site of St Mary’s Hospital, Portsmouth.
:: £19.3m will help provide a new community hospital facility in Malvern.
:: £20m will be used to develop three community hospitals in the East Riding of Yorkshire, in Beverley, Hornsea and Driffield.
